Earth Day Cleanup on the Trails
April 22 was the annual Earth Day cleanup of the Cambria County Trails Series. Cambria County Conservation and Recreation Authority organized events at each trail site so volunteers could come out to keep the paths litter-free. Everyone was recommended to wear work gloves, long pants, and long sleeves, but water and supplies were provided.
Greater Johnstown HS Interact Club and members of the Johnstown community linked together to clean up the Jim Mayer Riverswalk Trail. Thanks to these volunteers, trail users can enjoy the paths and the scenic views even more.
Mt Olive United Methodist Church in Sidman, PA picked up litter and beautified the Path of the Flood Trail. People who frequent the trails can thank this church for the pristine nature of the pathway! The church has adopted the section from Fifficktown to Mineral Point to take care of in the future.
Ebensburg Area Girl Scouts volunteered their time to clean up the Ghost Town Trail in Nanty Glo. It is very important to maintain the trails and be responsible while using them.
There were approximately 70 volunteers who participated in the Earth Day Trail Cleanups this year!
